Q&A with a newly engaged woman:

Q: Have you set a date yet?
Polite answer: We're thinking about sometime next summer.
What I'm really thinking: I'm calling to tell you I'm engaged. I've been engaged for less than a week. Do you really think I've mapped it all out?

Q: So I guess it must be time to start having babies, right?
Polite answer: Not so much...
What I'm really thinking: Fuck off and die. You are not cute or clever. Your comments do not amuse me. Although if I were currently preggo (I'm not) it's more likely we might have a date in mind.

My new favorite picture:

After American Gladiators, and stuffing ourselves full of pie, we couldn't resist a little karaoke to end the evening right. With her stunning rendition of I Will Survive here is Kayte and the Sexy Sammich Men (Dan, Brian, Jim & Vasily).
Super thanks to Erin for capturing the action :)
Mini-update!
Last weekend I went to Boulder and visited Melissa:

And I went to Jen's wedding!

Jen the beautiful bride, Rochelle the beautiful bridesmaid, and me the beautiful bouquet catcher.

Then my week consisted of
Monday: American Gladiators!
Tuesday: Jim's birthday - Fondue with Vasily & Erin.....mmmmmmmmmm
Wednesday: Jim's birthday celebration with Big Jim, Barbara and Christina. We cooked fish tacos, stuffed tomatoes, and couscous with tofu and bellpeppers and cilantro-mint yogurt sauce
Thursday: Jim worked on homework and I tried not to distract him
Friday: asleep at 6:30. Woke up at 9 to watch Battlestar Galactica. Fell asleep on the couch waiting for it to come on. Jim woke me up calling at 11:30. Fortunately Battlestar ran again at midnight, so I got to see it.
Saturday: Tattoo!!

Note: Try not to step on your tattoo artist's fingers, especially prior to getting tattooed. Oops.

Getting my tattoo. This is Sasha from Dragonfly Ink. She was phenomenal.
My leg however, was super bloody. I'll show you pictures of the tattoo when it's done healing, right now it's really red. And yeah, the red in the flower you see here, that would be blood. I didn't bleed that heavily for my other tattoos, so I'm not sure why this one was different. Oh well, it'll still heal and be beautiful.

Rochelle and Carey also got periwinkle tattoos in other styles on other parts of their bodies.

The cost of driving.
Gas prices go up, and it sucks. It inspires me to do math, so that I can use math in an attempt to convince myself to take the bus.
I drive 32 miles roundtrip for work. My car gets 25mpg. I figured out it costs $0.18 a mile, which means that it costs me $5.76 a day in gasoline just to drive to and from work.
The bus on the other hand is free. It just happens to take an hour instead of 30 minutes.
Maybe $5.76 isn't a lot of money, but that comes out to almost $1500 a year. And if I took the bus to work just one day a week I'd save $300 a year.

This sounds so nice in writing... why is it so hard to actually do???

CSA week 1 update!
I realize that things have happened in the past week which may or may not be more exciting than fruits and veggies, and I may or may not remember to update later. But seriously, 1 post at a time.
Here's a picture of everything we got for our first CSA week:

Eggs, oranges, ground beef, zuccini, potatoes, strawberries, spinach and broccoli.

We are working our way through all of the food. We did really good Tuesday - Thursday.
We ate brinner Tuesday, Steak with broccoli slaw Wednesday, and Stuffed tomatoes and stuffed zuccinis with the ground beef. Then I left for Colorado, and left the rest up to Jim. He made a good dent, but there is still some in the fridge. Tomorrow we get shipment #2! I've already forgotten what we ordered, so we'll find out tomorrow!
Oh, and the ground beef was so tasty and flavorful, and all the veggies and fruits were just amazing. Super good.

Oh, I also wanted to say, that while browsing iamonmtv.com, there was someone named kayla eagle that posted on Dani's wall saying: " you should of been the one that tila picked not bobby cuz your an amazing gurl =]"
And I was amused because her name is kinda almost my name, and her post was kinda the same as mine. Actually it was the first one I saw after I hit submit, so for a second I thought it was my post, and then I'm like wait...I don't write 'gurl' or 'cuz.'
Maybe kayla eagle is my really the crazy other side of my personality that I don't know is me a la Fight Club...
So I'm a big dork, and not only do I watch MTV's A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, and Real World 20, I really want to be friends with all of these crazy people, and help them and care for them. Seriously, Tila, she should have picked Dani from Season 1. I mean, no wonder you picked Bobby, got your heart broken, and had to come back for A shot at Love 2, where all the contestants are nutso. Just go crawling back to Dani...
And Joey on Real World, who just got out of rehab and is trying to stay sober in the real world house... The stupid roommates went out drinking til like 4 in the morning the day he got home, and then were loud and obnoxious (and still drinking when they got home). I really want to take Joey home with me, and invite him to play board games, and have dinner, and watch American Gladiators, and be like, look! It's fun! It's good people! It's not a drug/alcohol induced frenzy! He really just needs to get out of the house, and find some friends at home who are not trashy.

I think my obsession with Reality TV is not so bad, because even those these are in theory 'real people,' it's highly unlikely that I will actually take Joey home with me or convince Tila to go crawling back to Dani (oh, and dear lord, throw Jersey out of the house, he's the worst!). I like bringing home defective things. I mean, look at my cat with the bit off ear, and maybe some of my friends :) I mean, not you of course, if you're reading my blog, you're totally cool and way not defective...

Anyway, what I was getting to here was this website: iamonmtv.com
It's like a forum for reality TV peeps, where you can be 'fans' and send people 'love' and write on their boards. And by all appearances, it looks like they write back. I suppose it's possible that it's all crap, and it's just someone who works for MTV responding as these characters, but I kinda doubt it. I'm guessing the majority of these people would embrace this kind of a forum. After all, reality TV fame is an extension of being cool and popular in school/life. It's like having lots of myspace friends, with random people saying 'hey man, ur cool!! keep it real'
And yes, being the dork that I am, I wrote on Joey's page telling him to please take care of himself (and I attempted to use capitalization, punctuation and grammar appropriately. Then since I'd already bothered to sign up for the site and make a profile (which I'm sure I'll get spammed for later) I figured I'd go look at Season 1 at Shot at Love, and messaged Dani to tell her that she was cool, and Tila was a damn fool for not picking her. I didn't write on Tila's wall, but I am tempted. Most of Tila's wall is pervvy boys(or girls) saying 'UR hottt!!' And she doesn't respond as much as a lot of the other people do, probably because she is a 'bigger' star. Or something.

Anyway. I love reality TV. It makes me want to take care of these crazy dysfunctional people. But fortunately as close as technology is taking me to them, I'll never bring them home (because Jim won't let me), encourage them to sleep with one of my friends, then have all hell break lose and realize that damn, they really are crazy, it's not just the contrived atmosphere or the crap people they are surrounded with...

OK, here it is, a brief update with Kayte. Do you really want to hear me ramble about things, or do you just want to see some pretty pictures that relate to my life? That's what I thought.

I think LOLCats is the best thing EVAR. Now that I have a cat, all I want to do is take pictures of her and show the world. And Lolcats lets people photograph their cats, and people actually volutarily choose to look! So, here is Toaster's LOLCats Debut:

Captioning photos is surprisingly difficult...

But Toaster is just too cute...

And here's a special cameo from Sydney, my neighbor's cat. We're watching her while her mama is on vacation. I crocheted her this toy today and filled it with catnip. She was much more impressed than Toaster.

This weekend I've been taking care of my man, as he's sick. I've also been cooking, because I just get crazy bouts of energy. I made oatmeal raisin cookies, and 7 layer dip. I don't know if this quite Chicken Noodle soup, but it made Jim feel better....

And in addition to crocheting cat toys, and my usual assortment of blankets and projects I'm in the middle of, I decided to decorate the apartment with Martha Stewart Pom poms. How does Jim put up with me? Oh yeah, I cook for him.

And one last pic for the evening. Jim and I went to a Giants game with our good friend Gene.
Ok, ok. I've been posting at Livejournal, because that's where all my blogs have been for several years. But Livejournal is not friendly for uploading pictures, which makes me sad. So, I'm posting here. Pictures soon to follow. Hopefully more blogs. And updates on my CSA, which starts delivering on Tuesday! Hooray!
